MELBOURNE
Hey guys !
Haven't posted in a while ... but here we are ! So recently Bella and I went to Melbourne. We both wanted to check out the Uni as we think it would be the BEST place to go when we finish school because there is just the nicest cafes, most creative people and a lovely mix of city and outdoors. Here are a few of our favourite eats and places to shop !
1. Little Frankies (Adriano Zumbo's bakery/cafe) // A full house on a Sunday afternoon, getting spoilt for baby showers and high teas. Alex tried the specialty: warm donut in the shape of a hollow cone filled with chocolate and coconut soft serve and topped with an arrangement of musk sticks, pretzels (gotta have some salty in there), sour worms and chocolate shards. Perfect mix of nostalgic childhood sweets and patisserie finesse. You've got your sweet, buttery, creamy and a little salty - perfection on the tastebuds. Although it was pretty filling definitely a must try !
2. Supernormal // modern-style Japanese cuisine. Fresh, uber tasty salads, lobster and brioche rolls, pork tonkatsu sandwiches and Peking duck with an array of sauces. With a minimalist setting, long bar this is the perfect place for a quick, delicious lunch ! If you're staying for dessert make sure to try the peanut butter parfait with salted caramel and chocolate - so rich and amazing ! They even have vending machines (part of the Japanese theme) filled with pocky, the iconic Japanese snack.
3. Tomboy // this cute little cafe in Collingwood is a breakfast legend. Bella tried their smashed avocado, which was a work of art ! it came with an egg 'cloud' as well, which was pretty spectacular. add a chai latte and it's a perfect combo !
4. Vintage shopping in Fitzroy // this was literally heaven. Smith St was full of second hand shops, vintage and retro outlets that we just couldn't get enough of ! Some of the best ones were the Monkey Bar and the Vintage Garage. Alex bought herself a pair of 501s and a black lace body suit. fitzroy markets are also on the 3rd saturday of every month, and have an eclectic range of already-been-loved clothes, records and handmade jewelery. bella scored some $10 patched jeans straight from the Levi's factory !
5. Melbourne design markets // it's quite an adventure to find these markets, hidden under federation square in the carpark ! full of clothes, accessories, knick knacks and jewelery designed by local artists, its a great place to spend a sunday afternoon. while you're there, make sure to also try the rhubarb and granny smith icecream from the cart - so delicious !
Enjoy some snaps from melbs!! Such a funky city and we will definitely be back soon xx
alex's outfit: grey turtleneck (princess polly), skinny black jeans (a-brand), boots (windsor smith) & clutch (blondys boutique)
lots of love, bella and alex xx
